Although many still refer to home plans as Blueprints, technically, they are not. They're now printed from a large format, digital printer on bond paper, which are easier to read than the blueprints of old. A variety of plan packages are available with the most common being 6 sets. A bank will require one set, your builder will need multiple to use to build the home, and it's good to keep a set of plans for your own reference. Additional sets are always available.
All plans are now available in PDF format, even though initially more expensive, this format enables you to email your plans to builders and sub-trades rather than driving all over town or printing extra sets. The license to construct homes from these plans is granted to the ORIGINAL purchaser only and may NOT be transfered, assigned, or sub-licensed to any other party. We grant the buyer a limited license to use the Plans for the construction of ONE house.
These home plans will come in various standard sizes, the most common being 24" x 36". They will concentrate on the architecture and the stucture itself and will typically not specify hardware, appliances and interior finishes. This is the part of the building process you get to enjoy.
